Monthly Beauty Tops and Flops

june beauty empties

With the wedding approaching (less than two months to go!) I decided to up my beauty game. So far I was a bit lazy with creams, scrubs and co. So that means there will be a lot to review here soon. Here's what I used up lately.

YVES ROCHER Foot Beauty Care Anti-Fatigue Iced Gel

This gel with an instant cooling effect was a real life saver after long walks on city trips or holidays. The lavender scent has a soothing effect so it's the perfect pampering tool to relax in the evening. I didn't use it much in daily life though, so this little package went a long way. Definitely something I'll have to repurchase for our honeymoon in September.

METHOD Pink Grapefruit plant-based hand soap

I was really eager to try this plant-based soap by the environment friendly brand Method, that you can also buy in Luxembourgish supermarkets (at least I saw it at Auchan). Unfortunately the grapefruit smell is rather artificial. The biggest downer however is that the soap didn't clean really well. It was definitely good enough for a quick hand wash in between, but it didn't remove my foundation which I always apply with my fingers. Might be nice for people with sensitive skin though, as it didn't dry out my skin as much as regular bar soaps.

RITUALS Moisture Boost Bio-cellulose Sheet Mask

I'm not a big fan of sheet masks a priori, but whenever I get one I also try it. Unfortunately this sheet material was too stiff and didn't stick well to my skin. I also didn't see any of the promised results (hydrating, glow, soft skin).

LOUIS WIDMER Remederm face cream

I already told you that my skin is currently drier than it used to be because of acne pills I take. Therefor my dermatologist recommended me this face cream for dry skin (I bought it at the pharmacy). It wasn't as greasy as I had expected and after I applied makeup my skin didn't look shiny at all. Unfortunately I had to use quite a lot of product for my face (a chickpea sized portion). Nonetheless the cream lasted for about three and a half months.

TECHNIC BB Foundation

Do you remember my post about the low-priced cosmetic brand Technic? You can read it again here. Already when I first tried the products I was quite satisfied so I kept using this BB cream along with some other cosmetics. I don't use BB creams much as my skin needs much more coverage, so I only used it on natural makeup days. The texture is pretty nice, even though I absolutely had to apply a mattifying powder. The shade 'oatmeal' was perfect for my complexion though! What I didn't like was the not so subtle shimmer in this BB cream.

CLINIQUE Take The Day Off Makeup Remover

I have reviewed this makeup remover in a separate post before (here). Emptying the product didn't change my opinion, but I honestly think that cheaper makeup removers do the trick just as well. I can recommend those from Gemey and Garnier.
