Projet Wedding: Choosing A Table Setting

The wedding preparations have been progressing slowly but steadily. After I recently found my wedding dress, I have been working on the table decorations with my friend Nancy who will be our wedding decorator. We started discussing about them in November and only recently chose all the necessary elements, so it has been quite a creative progress. And I'm really glad I had Nancy to guide me through it all, because when we started off I had so many different ideas, that were impossible to combine.
Just like everything else it all started off with a Pinterest board. However all my pins went in a completely different direction. We had the classical pastel decorations, some tropical vibes, a bit of autumn chic, ... One of the photos I had saved was the one above. A slightly oriental and opulent decoration but with a really simplistic touch. My fiancé and I liked the photo so much, that we decided to take it as our main source of inspiration for our table setting.
Together with Nancy we discussed what we would need to create a similar mood and what options we had within our budget. In the end we decided to get navy blue table cloths, lavender napkins and golden cutlery. Funnily these elements also determined the whole mood of our wedding, as my fiancĂ© will be wearing a navy blue suit and my bridesmaids will be wearing purple or lavender dresses. I furthermore decided on a lavender bridal bouquet, and we will thus work with the same flowers for the table decoration. Instead of simple candles we will have white lanterns for a final oriental touch.
However Nancy advised me that the key element to make our location look really special, would be the chairs we choose. We could get simple chairs with white fabric coverings for free, but they wouldn't be really modern or Pinterest-worthy. That's why we decided to invest in some good old Napoleon chairs. All in all we haven't seen the various elements together, but I created a collage in Photoshop so we could get an idea of how it all would look like. (Thank goodness for blogger skills!) Now I really can't wait to see the final result on the big day and I am more than glad that Nancy will be there to arrange it all, as I'm a little control freak after all.

If you're getting married or just want an awesome decoration for a party you have to check out Nancy's work at The Party Ville!

Right now we have less than 4 months to go and even though I'm still not overly nervous, I start to think about all the little things that still need to be done, and which are harder to organize than the big stuff. Here's where we are right now:

- Book location
- Choose priest, church and choir
- Send wedding invitations (a post on our wedding stationery will be following once we have it all)
- Book civil marriage
- Choose wedding dress and groom's suit
- Decide on table setting
- Choose menu at the caterer
- Book a photographer
- Order the wedding bands

Needs to be done:
- Choose songs for ceremony and party
- Meet light engineer
- Decide on flowers
- Find all accessories for bridal outfit and civil marriage outfit
- Choose salons for hair and beauty treatments
- Do an engagement shooting (oops, we're a bit late with that!)
- Order wedding favors
- Choose wine and order menu cards
- Buy a guest book
