Discovering The Universe Of Jo Malone

Jo Malone Luxembourg

When I first posted about the new Jo Malone store in Luxembourg City on Instagram, I got some comments from girls who were really excited about this new opening in town. Even though I really appreciate the fact that Luxembourg is attracting more and more international brands, I couldn't quite share the excitement, as I had never tried any products of the brand. That's why I was curious to discover the universe of Jo Malone at the official opening a few weeks ago.
The first thing you notice when you enter a Jo Malone store, is neither the scent nor the products, but the amazing cream and black interior. Everything looks very tidy and underlines the elegant packaging of the perfumes, creams and candles. Candles btw, which you can get in XXL (if you don't mind the price tag).
Even though I can never say no to a good scented candle or beauty product, I was entirely focused on the perfumes that evening. The interesting aspect about them is that you can mix and match them as you please. Even though you will already like the colognes as they are, combining two or three of them will allow you to create a really unique scent that goes with your personality or current mood. So for example if you like sweet and fresh perfumes, you can mix a sweet and a fresh one. The result will even vary depending on which one you apply first, which leaves you with endless possibilities.
I was totally hypnotised by the black perfumes, which are more intense and seemingly masculine. However the shop manager explained me that the Jo Malone perfumes are unisex and that nowadays a lot of strong and independent women tend to adore these heavy scents, which they simply mix with a lighter fragrance. However I went all in and my favourite combination of all turned out to be 'Velvet Rose & Oud' + 'Myrrh & Tonka'. Here's what Jo Malone says about both scents:

Velvet Rose & Oud

Darkest Damask rose. Rich and textural, wrapped with smoky oud wood. Spiked with clove, decadent with praline. Magnetic.

Myrrh & Tonka

Namibia, with its sand dunes and warm desert colours, conjured up the romance of faraway lands.

Doesn't that sound magical? I suggest you try the fragrance combining for yourself to find you personal scent!
