Last week I was invited to various press days in Antwerp and thanks to UPR, who organised a shuttle for all Luxembourgish press people, I could go there without hassle. Press days are great for bloggers for several reasons. First of all you can see the trends of the next season before most other people, then you also get to know important people from the industry, and of course the parties and goodies are great fun, too.Due to lack of time I wasn't able to visit all the pr agencies, but I managed to see the showrooms of UPR, Appletree, Comprendo, and oona.
The UPR showroom was huge, spread on two floors, and thanks to a delicious lunch and an after press day party I spend most time there. UPR represents some gorgeous brands such as Scotch & Soda, Tommy Hilfiger, Zalando, Collistar, L'Occitane, and many more. The most interesting discoveries I made in their showroom were certainly the new Zalando Iconics shoe range and the capsule collection by Gigi Hadid for Tommy Hilfiger. The collection is still under embargo, which means that I wasn't allowed to take pictures, but I can already tell you that it's pretty exciting and dominated by the nautical theme and the typical Tommy Hilfiger colours red, white and blue. The collection will probably be available by the end of September.
After UPR I went to the press days of Appletree and Comprendo. They have clients such as Babor, Bourjois, Rimmel London, or Sally Hansen. However apart from these known brands, I also made a new beauty discovery. The brand Self had only just launched that day and the lovely founder Isabelle explained her concept to me. She always had the urge to be herself and so she wanted to create a face and body care range that are in accordance with her own skin properties. Not only the ingredients but also the packaging are of natural origin. You can get all infos on her site.
Last but not least I visited the oona showroom which was the prettiest of all (mostly due to the white brick walls). Besides the typical exposition of clothes and accessories, the people from oona had also created an art gallery with some of their client's products. However all my attention was immediately devoted to the brand Julia June, mainly due to their awesome 'Fake It' sweater which you could already see on my Instagram page.
All in all I had a great time and I will try to integrate some of the news in my blog posts this autumn. As a little recap I added a list of all the awesome brands I discovered during the press days below. They are all Belgian or Dutch brands which is pretty cool because most of us still don't see Belgium and the Netherlands as the fashionable countries they actually are. So go ahead and have a peek at some of those labels that will guarantee you a unique style!
LoveStories Intimates - New Dutch lingerie brand with exquisite individual pieces that can be mixed and matched
Juttu - New concept store in Antwerp with five lifestyle corners: Fashion, interior design, care products and fine food
Julia June - Belgian womenswear with edgy, feminine, naughty, and romantic designs
Self - Brand new beauty label with 100% natural ingredients, made in the Netherlands
Saint Eve Antwerp - Handpicked interior and textile objects, fashion and jewellery
Essentiel Antwerp - Bold and bright fashion and accessories for him and her (for example the monster glitter clutches in the first collage)
Did you know any of these brands before? If not would you have thought that Belgium and the Netherlands have that much awesome stuff to offer?
