Beauty Empties February

beauty empties february review

Another month is over and my initiative to use up as many opened beauty products as possible definitely becomes noticeable in the number of products I get to review every month lately. I find it quite hard to throw stuff away, even those products that I don't like, but some things just can't be used for ever, like the self-tanning lotion for example. I'm even trying to use up some more samples from magazines or goodie bags lately so I might be reviewing some products you would normally not see over here, like from the more expensive brand Clinique.

L'OREAL La Manicure Miracle Repair 7

This nail polish base definitely deserves the word "miracle" in its name. Only by applying it before any manicure my nails gained strength and are less brittle now. I used it for about one year (applying it at an average of 3 times a month) and now I'm on the hunt for a new bottle. Unfortunately I couldn't find it anywhere this month so I really hope they didn't stop producing it. Luckily there's still the Internet...

TIMELESS TRUTH Masque Bio Cellulose Régénérant

This sheet mask is said to improve imperfections, dry skin and wrinkles after 29 consecutive days of application. Well I don't know how about you but I am not buying these sheet masks by the dozen and I certainly don't have the patience to apply a mask every day. I didn't notice any changes to my skin after a single application and I much prefer clay masks that leave my skin radiant and clean immediately.

CLINIQUE Custom-Repair Serum

This sample was definitely an awesome surprise. Even though I couldn't try it long term, I enjoyed applying it as the texture is silkily awesome. I haven't had a serum in a while but this one is worth considering for a next purchase.

THE BODY SHOP Rainforest Volume conditioner for fine hair

I have already written a whole post about this hair care range some time ago. I had bought the shampoo and conditioner because they are silicone, colourant and paraben free, but as you may remember I didn't like them at all (you can read it all here). For obvious reasons I never used the conditioner all up but I also don't like to throw away beauty products so I gave it a last try lately. The conditioner really didn't give my hair any softness and didn't even feel as moisturising as other conditioners. Definitely the worst product I bought from The Body Shop so far.

YVES ROCHER Self Tanner

Another oldie in my beauty collection is this self tanner from Yves Rocher. At the beginning I quite liked it because it smelled good at first and tanned really well. Unfortunately the bad smell came as soon as the lotion settled in and it left me with quite some nasty marks. By now I much prefer the Maria Galland self-tanning lotion which I talked about here

AYUR-VANA "Triphala" day cream & "Tulsi" night cream

I only just wrote about Ayur-Vana a few days ago in my post about organic beauty brands. I liked the creams for their fresh smell but didn't notice much of the detoxifying or regenerating substances. They also didn't feel as light as I expected so I won't repurchase them.

What products have you used up lately? Have you had experiences with any of these before?

  1. So glad I stumbled across your blog, it's lovely! I love The Body Shop's products, I've been using a lot of their body butters recently.

  2. I need to try that L'Oreal manicure repair as I am always looking for new and better ways to strenghten my nails and manicure! Thanks for sharing!
