Puffy Eyes? Try These Quick & Easy Tricks

On Wednesday I woke up with one eye lid terribly swollen. In fact that happens to me from time to time so I didn't pay much attention to it and tried to cover it with makeup as well as possible (I found out that Benefit's "Stay Don't Stray" is great to cover up redness!). Unfortunately my eye didn't get better the next days and my eyelid even turned red like a tomato. Time to see a doctor... Diagnosis: The oil gland of one of my lashes had become inflamed. Have you every heard of something like that? Well I hadn't but now I got some cream and my eye starts looking like normal again. Anyway why am I telling you my booboo? Well, it gave me the idea for this post...
I'm sure we've all suffered from puffy eyes and mostly they take us by surprise in the morning when we don't have much time to treat them before leaving the house. (Did you know consuming alcohol or too much salt are often responsible for that swollen look?) So the remedies need to be quick and easy and you've gotta find them at home, in the fridge to be precise!

1. Tea Bag
One thing even my doctor recommended me, was putting a bag of camomile tea on my eye. So you get up, see that your eyes are swollen, make yourself a cup of tea, put the bag in the fridge while you drink your tea, and before leaving the house you put the cold bag on your eyes for a few minutes. Win-win for your eyes and tummy!

2. Milk Pad
If you don't drink tea but rather coffee with milk, you might wanna pour some extra milk in a small bowl and dab a cotton pad inside. As the milk came out of the fridge you will feel immediate cooling and notice a decrease of the swelling.

3. Teaspoon
If you tend to wake up with puffy eyes regularly, you should always keep one or two teaspoons ready in your fridge. The size is perfect to cover your eyes and it will cool them in no time and without any mess.

4. Cucumber Slice
If you still have some cucumber leftovers from the day before, you can cut off two slices, which will do the trick as well. And if you have some extra time in the morning, why not add a nice curd face mask, too? You might of course also put that stuff on your sandwich... Just making suggestions here...

5. Eye Cream Storage
In order to always be prepared to beat puffy eyes, morning or evening, why not store your eye cream in the fridge 24/7? Like this it won't only have a cooling effect, which is heaven after a long day and heavy makeup, but most eye creams also contain proteins that spoil quickly so putting the cream in the fridge may slow that process.

Feel free to share any other tricks and home remedies in the comments!

  3. Great great stuff! I've tried cold cucumber slices, tea bags and creams! I totally need to stick a bunch of face masks and tea bags in the fridge for a treat for my eye area. I do get puffy eyes every now and again, especially when I don't get enough sleep but I'm lucky that they go away quite quickly.

  4. Hallo liebe Carmen!
    Eva
