Blog Resolutions for 2016

blog resolutions 2016

Those of you who've been following my blog for a few years know that I used to blog almost every day. For this year I've set myself a schedule of 5 posts a week. Some weeks I succeeded but I also had times where I only posted 3 articles a week. This is not due to the fact that I had less time this year, but rather due to my rebranding which I already shortly mentioned.

Beauty Empties December

beauty empties december winter edition Lush Beauticology

Here we go with the last empties post of 2015 and obviously it's a pretty Christmasy edition this month. And when I say Christmas and beauty it's pretty clear there will be some Lush products in this post. As you might remember from this post I've been provided with half of their winter collection, but I haven't been taking a bath in months so I just tried the shower jelly so far. As for the other products I'll review today, some are last year's winter editions or I got them last year around Christmas (like the Benefit mascara from my Advent calendar 2014). Whether old or new, let's see which were actually worth the purchase:

15 Favourite Outfits of 2015

outfit recap 2015

Yesterday we looked back on the most clicked posts of the year and today I want to do a little recap of my personal favourite outfits of the last 12 months. It has become pretty clear that my go-to colour for both summer and winter outfits is blue. Be it a baby blue trench, a royal blue dress, a pastel blue off-the-shoulder-top, or a dark blue off-season coat - almost every piece of clothing I bought this year was either blue, black or white.

Most Popular Blog Posts 2015

Christmas is over which means that it's officially time to look back on 2015 and prepare for 2016. We will surely all admit that time has passed too quickly once again, but do you still remember every single experience of 2015? I surely don't so I like to look back on all the good stuff that happened to me over the last 12 months. When it comes to my blog a review is not only of nostalgic value, but also fairly interesting as it helps me to create even more content that you will like.

Outfit: The Art of Layering

Outfit Layering black dress white long vest jacket

How are the holidays going guys? While I'm writing this I'm full of Bûche de Noël and Christmas cookies. It's good that these pictures were taken before heading to the Christmas lunch...
As for the outfit I had to get a little creative but I'm all the more satisfied with the result. I'm spending the holidays at my boyfriend's place so I don't have many clothes with me. In fact I had planned to just wear this dress with the jacket, but in the end found the look a bit boring. How good that I still had my vest from this casual look with me. I decided to combine it all together and round it off with a belt I stole from my man.

Christmas Outfit Idea & Giveaway!

How do you feel about combining gold and silver? Some people say it's a no-no, but I love experimenting with different materials, especially when rose gold is involved. The last pieces of jewellery I chose for my collaboration with the Luxembourg-based designer Rina Oliveira, are a three heart necklace (combining gold, silver and rose gold) and a two start bracelet (combining silver and vermeil).

Christmas Essentials

Christmas beauty jewellery essentials

Christmas is just around the corner and I managed to buy some very last presents yesterday. Now it's time to concentrate on the calm and thoughtful aspects of this holiday. I can't wait to spend some time with family members I haven't seen in a while and share some happiness with them. On a more personal note I surely also like Christmas because it allows me to dress up for once and get them sequins out of my closet. Not that I would be dying to wear sequins but sometimes we all need a little sparkle in our lives, don't we? Here is a list of things that help me make Christmas an even prettier holiday:

Outfit: Long Vest and Camel Sweater

outfit felt hat white long vest

Are you ready for more local jewellery goodness? As you know from my previous outfit post, I'm currently collaborating with Rina Oliveira, a Japanese jewellery designer living in Luxembourg. For my second look I decided to layer a minimal long necklace with black gemstones and a short infinity necklace that is supposed to be worn sideways. To round off the look I added leaf loop earrings with bead balls. Even though most of Rina Oliveira's pieces are gold filled, they are so delicate that they go perfectly with minimalistic and festive outfits alike. And the best thing: You can now buy your Rina Oliveira jewels with 10% off! Simply use the codCAC-XMAS10 to shop in her online store. (Valid until December 31st!)

The Brand to Buy Your New Year's Eve Outfit

reformation sustainable conscious new year's eve elegant party dress

New Year's Eve is one of those days when I always felt like dressing up and partying into the new year. As a child we mostly celebrated at my aunt's house, and she and I spent the whole afternoon getting ready for the night. This year I will be spending NYE at home with my family, so no need to dress up. However if you have planned a big celebration, a pretty outfit is a must. Instead of browsing your usual online stores to find a dress, I'd recommend you rather check out the brand Reformation this year!

Review: The Blogger Artist Agenda 2016

The Blogger Artist blog planner agenda 2016

I highly believe that the key to success is being organized and so far I didn't have a hobby that required as much organization as this blog. Being quite oldschool when it comes to paper vs. technology, I've had a blog planner booklet every year since I started blogging. So far I contented myself with planners that I customized to my blogging needs (like this one last year). However nowadays you can find so many great planners especially for bloggers, so I decided to give one of them a try. The one that seems to match my scheduling method best is this pretty notebook called The Blogger Artist.

Manic(ure) Monday: 3 Ways of Christmas Nails

festive shiny sparkly glitter Christmas manicure nails

No matter how minimal your style may be, Christmas is always a good time to dig up that awesome shiny sequin dress. The same goes for manicures: Even if you're too serious for glitter nail polish, you can release your inner diva and go crazy with bling during the Holiday season. Don't worry if you're out of practice, as I complied three manicures that are sparkly and classy at the same time. What will be your style this holiday season: Festive Dark, Christmas Classic, or Holiday Shiny?

Outfit: Local Jewellery (+Surprise for You!)

outfit blue coat dark black layering

Just as I learned to value simplistic and minimal outfits, I also learned that good quality jewellery is always a good investment. For a long time it seemed to me that creative and unique jewellery brands are hard to find, but over the last months I've noticed that Luxembourg has some pretty talented designers in that area. As you may remember I already wrote a post about local jewellery designers, and a few days ago I met up with one of them. Rina Oliveira is Japanese and after living in Portugal for some time, she moved to Luxembourg five years ago.

3 Easy Ways to Step up your Christmas Gift Wrapping Game

pretty gift wrapping ideas Christmas

For me one of the best parts about Christmas is buying pretty wrapping supplies and wrapping up all the gifts I bought for friends and family. I wish I was more creative when it comes to this task though, as I mostly end up with a wrapping paper off-the-shelf and some sticky tags. Therefor I appreciate a well wrapped gift even more and I'm one of the slow openers, trying not to damage the paper and packaging all too much. I feel this sometimes annoys my friends, and they end up being more curious about finally seeing what's inside the present than I am, haha! So if you're a wrapping lover like me and want to produce the prettiest gifts under the Christmas tree this year, you should check out these amazing tutorials that I compiled for you. Happy wrapping!

Shop the Pantone Colours of 2016

pantone colour of the year 2016 Rose Quartz Serenity

Since 2000, the Pantone Color Institute has been choosing the colours that determined our wardrobe and interior every year. While this year was marked by the brick red "Marsala", we will wear and live in much more soothing colours from January on. For the first time Pantone has chosen two colours of the year, and they couldn't compliment each other more. "Serenity" and "Rose Quartz" are the names you will be hearing a lot next year (actually they'd make pretty good celeb baby names, too). Serenity is indeed a cool baby blue, while Rose Quartz is a versatile rose shade. As the name of the first colour suggests, they are supposed to calm you down in a harmonic union.

3 Fashion-Related Questions You Could Never Ask Anyone

The magical world of fashion is so vast that it's impossible to know every single detail about it. Be it the birthday of a designer, next year's trends, or the pronunciation of a fabric – there's always something new we can learn. Various fashion magazines try their best to answer all of these questions, but I'm sure there are still a few things you've always been wondering but could never ask anyone. Either because you were ashamed or because you didn't know whom to ask. Recently I had a few questions coming to my mind as well and instead of just researching them for myself, I thought I'd share my results or come up with my very own answer. I am far from being a pro when it comes to the world of fashion, but I think it's a business where everyone is free to see the things the way they like. So here are my, highly subjective, answers to three fashion-related questions I've been asking myself lately:

1. What is the difference between a button-up and a button-down skirt?

3 Ways to Wear a Turtleneck Sweater this Winter

how to combine grey knit turtleneck sweater

When fall was kicking off I knew: No matter what I'll be buying, I'll need a grey knit turtleneck this year! I found this really soft one at my crazy Mango shopping spree and I couldn't be happier about this purchase. As you'll see I had many occasions to wear this turtleneck sweater already. No wonder regarding its versatility! Here are my 3 favourite ways to combine a turtleneck sweater this winter:

Christmas Gift Guide

Christmas gift guide for him and her

Have you already started shopping Christmas gifts for your beloved ones? I've got most presents for my boyfriend, and concrete ideas what to get my parents, but that's about it. I think the best way to find gifts people love, is to spend some time with them before Christmas, and talk about their interests. Which is a nice thing to do this time of the year anyway! Also why not get a local/handmade gift, which will surely surprise the presentee more than a mass-produced gift.

Outfit: Chunky Knit and A-Line Skirt

chunky knit cardigan yellow a-line button-down skirt

I took Black Friday quite literal and went to buy some black basics at H&M. Among them this velvet top, that totally reminds me of New Year's Eve as a child. Funnily enough my dressing up game on NYE was way stronger back then. We often celebrated at my aunt's house where I spent all afternoon getting ready for the night and my outfit mostly featured a velvet dress or skirt. I think I may fall back on this tradition this year, and simply wear my new top with black pants. Not really glamorous, I know, but then again our plans for this year aren't either. What will you be up to on the last day of 2015?

Beauty Empties November

Here we go with my monthly review of emptied beauty products. Except for the conditioner all products are from summery limited editions, but next month's review will be more wintry - promised!

Splurge vs. Save: Christmas Themed Handbags

Christmas themed handbags clutches tree star elf

Are you just as excited about Christmas as I am? Tomorrow is the first Sunday of Advent so it gets about time to light the first candle of your Advent wreath. However with less than four weeks until Christmas, it also gets time to think about your festive look. If you won't find the time to shop an entirely new outfit, how about spicing up last year's look with a darling Christmas themed handbag or clutch? The hardcore Christmas fans among you might love to have a look at Kate Spade's Christmas bag range, but all others can also find cheaper alternatives at Asos or New Look!

New In: Grey Overknees (+ How to Find Your Perfect Pair)

flat grey overknees wide shaft big legs

Here they are, my long sought-after overknees! It was not easy to find a pair that matches all of my requirements: flat heels, grey (faux) suede, wide shaft, and under 150€. Actually there were just two pairs I could find that met my expectations, which were the ones shown above, and this pair via Amazon. No need to say both were sold out in my size and the "back in stock" date for the pair I finally got was constantly postponed.

Outfit: Feeling Festive in Red, Green and Tartan

red green tartan sweater festive outfit

Just like every other year, I am extremely looking forward to Christmas. This year probably even a tad more as it will be the time when I'll have finished all of my course at university and I'll be able to do a teeny tiny little break before writing my assignments and master thesis from January on. So after having our first real snow for the season this weekend, and after baking some delicious gingerbread cookies, I was also in the mood to compile some festive looks this week. And if there is one thing that screams "Christmas is coming!" then it's surely the combination of red and green. Plus I felt even festive enough to add my fancy perfume bottle clutch!

Introducing the Beauty Parlour "Aromas Institut"

This week I was invited to discover the beauty salon of a lovely French girl. Audrey Sferlazza has opened her "Aromas Institut" a few years ago and works there all by herself, offering many interesting beauty services. From manicures over epilation to slimming cures, in her parlour you can get almost every beauty treatment your heart desires.

3 Local Jewellery Designers to Watch

Thanks to my Fashion Made in Luxembourg project, I could already introduce you to some talented local designers. To me one thing that goes hand in hand with fashion is jewellery design and yet again in this area you will find many adorable pieces made in Luxembourg. The best place to stay up to date with the newest creations is the Lët'z Go Local market, where I discovered the following three outstanding jewellery brands:

Outfit: Mustard Yellow A-Line Skirt

As you may have noticed I'm a huge fan of the still ongoing 70s trend. Therefor it was only a matter of time until I would get myself a button-up A-line skirt. Well in fact it was rather a matter of length. It seems a fact that most A-line skirts are damn short and I prefer every part of my behind to be hidden, be it when I'm walking, sitting or bending over.

An Affiliate Link Guide (For Bloggers and Readers)

affiliate link guide bloggers

At a time when we're literally just one click away from about anything, clicking has become so natural that we don't think much about it anymore. However lots of links don't just get us to another page, but also involve other actions. One kind of such links are affiliate links.

5 Bloggers Who Styled Overknees On Point

The sexiest footgear of all times is on everyone's lips again. We're obviously talking about overknees, or over knees, or over-the-knee boots, however you want to call them. You sure agree that there is no other kind of shoes which is that hard to shop. For example I want flat grey ones with a large upper and no, I don't have a Stuart Weitzman budget. So while I keep looking for my perfect pair, I'm giving you some inspiration on how good overknees make any outfit look. (Oh and a little shopping selection and the end, too!)

4th Blogiversary & Thoughts About Blogging

Happy Birthday Clothes and Camera! It's been four years since I started this blog. Four crazy years with you guys. A lot has changed since I started off with Clothes and Camera. Not only has my style evolved, but I have also narrowed down the topics I write about on this blog. "Finding a niche" how it's called among experts. But have I really found my niche? Have I found my blogging voice and rhythm over the years? Is everything flourishing and am I satisfied with how everything goes? Certainly not.

33 Things That Can Go Wrong When Shooting Outfits

bloggers taking outfit pictures

Become a fashion blogger they said. It will be fun they said. Well it is, but taking outfit pictures can be a mess! Rainstorms, curious tourists, failing camera material, I've been through it all. Here are some (more or less serious) scenarios, that can occur while taking outfit pictures. Plus the best outtakes from my shootings this year. I hope you'll laugh as much at them as I did!

Outfit: Electric Blue

electric blue oversized sweater outfit

During summer I've been talking a lot about creating new looks with old clothes so why stop doing it in fall and winter? Especially now that the weather forces us to make use of the layering technique again, it's pretty easy to create new looks with your wardrobe content. For example I used to wear this electric blue sweater as a cosy oversized top with black pants, but why not add a blouse underneath to make it all look more classy? The ongoing bow blouse trend is pretty perfect to give your old sweaters a new twist.

New In: H&M Home and Beauty

H&M Home Beauty Haul

Call me pessimistic but I didn't think H&M Home would ever come to Luxembourg. It's still pretty rare in bigger countries so why would anybody mind bringing it to Luxembourg? But here we are, with a new pretty full concept store with 4 floors of H&M goodness, including H&M Home and H&M Beauty. I was among the lucky people to discover the renovated store in Luxembourg's Grand-Rue during some late night shopping with 20% off on everything.

Outfit: Turtleneck, Vest & Flares

flared pants turtleneck long vest fall outfit

I think one of the biggest challenges in fashion is to find outfits that you feel good in because they're comfortable, which however also look like you've put some effort in. Often in order to achieve this look, it's about changing one garment for another and making good accessory choices. For example the combination of jeans and turtleneck surely is super comfortable and also adapted to the autumnal weather, but it's also pretty common. By swapping simple jeans for bell-bottoms and by adding a long vest, I didn't lose comfort but achieved an outfit that doesn't look all too ordinary.

Monthly Must Haves: Birthday Edition

girly birthday wish list fashionista Christmas presents

Seriously I don't understand those people who don't care about their birthday. I just LOVE it! I love to be the little princess for one day and get lots of presents and have an excuse to eat as much cake as I like. And I feel like this year's birthday is gonna be a good one! My boyfriend will take the week off from work and I don't have courses that day, so I can be sure I will be with my beloved ones. In fact that is the most important thing on such a special day, right? Nevertheless I also picked some little presents I wouldn't mind being surprised with that day... P.S.: They would also make gorgeous Christmas presents for that fashionista in your life!

Beauty Empties September & October

LES COSMÉTIQUES DESIGN PARIS "Nectar of Nature" Shaving Gel

Even though this brand is exclusively sold in Carrefour supermarkets, it seems pretty interesting to me. I must admit that I tried the shaving gel solely because of the cute packaging, but the product itself managed to convince me as well. It has a really natural smell and is gentle to my skin, too.

7 Things I'm Currently Loving

Not long ago I was contacted by this brand that allows you to create your own case for a phone or tablet. I knew I wanted to try the service when I saw that they also have customizable clear cases because they can be super pretty with the right design. For my golden iPhone 6 case design I chose this cute illustration by Inslee Haynes and centered it in a way that the Apple logo would be covered. I got my case only few days later and the print was indeed well arranged and of a high quality.

Fashion Days Luxembourg (Part II)

Fashion Days Luxembourg Casino 2000 Mondofr-Les-Bains 2015

Let's start the week with more local fashion, shall we? Yesterday I already introduced you to the Fashion Days Luxembourg, the first fashion event of its kind here in Luxembourg. Today I want to show you some more of the startup designers, but also the collections of experienced designers, that could be seen on Saturday evening.

Fashion Days Luxembourg (Part I)

I first heard about the Fashion Days Luxembourg back in spring or so, and since then I have been looking forward to the event. This weekend it finally took place during two days in Luxembourg's most known casino. As you know I attended a few similar events in Belgium this year, so I was particularly eager to see if the concept of fashion days would find recognition in Luxembourg, too. What I witnessed from the organization seemed a bit chaotic at first, but in the end everything worked out just fine (at least on the second day, when I attended).

Lush Christmas Range 2015

Lush Christmas range collection products 2015

Christmas is fast approaching and so are the Christmas treats. My favourites are certainly the ones from Lush, because they are calorie-free. And after the presentation of their new range yesterday morning, I'm definitely in the mood for Christmas now (think cinnamon smell, Christmas songs and crafting cute polar bears).
So what is new this year and what do you need to get your hands on if you're a Lush and Christmas lover like me?

Outfit: Brussels

A few weeks ago I've been discussing with some friends about how important it is to leave your space from time to time to not feel so constrained and refuel on inspiration. And that's exactly what I did last weekend. On Saturday I took the train to Brussels to visit my friend and fellow blogger Claude who studies there. I've never been in the Belgian capital but it had been on my must-see list for ages. Besides some sightseeing in between, we had mainly planned fashion and blogging related activities though.

L'Occitane "Melting Honey" Limited Edition & Home Collection

L'Occitane Melting Honey limited edition home collection

The South of France and especially the Provence have always inspired me. There is something quite peaceful about the old buildings, the lavender fields and the food markets. So how could I not like the products of L'Occitane, the brand that has managed to pack the whole Provence into well-smelling and effective beauty products?

Outfit: Mango Finds

blue fall coat

Every new season requires some preparation. For a girl who's into fashion, this preparation consists in stocking up on that season's wardrobe essentials. In my case the scenario is always the same: Several weeks before the beginning of the season in question, I get flooded with pictures of what trendy people will be wearing during the next three months. By the beginning of the season I will have decided on which trends suits my style and which don't. After mentally checking my wardrobe I set up a list of things that I don't have yet, but absolutely want to wear that season. And then the endless lookout for the perfect wardrobe staples begins.

Manic(ure) Monday: Mauve Grey

Kiko Mauve Grey nail polish swatches

From my last manicure post you already know that I've totally fallen for all kinds of purple and lilac shades lately. While reddish berry shades go really well with warmer colours, this cool lilac shade is perfect for grey outfits, like the one I'm planning to wear tomorrow. Kiko's "Mauve Grey" is almost nude-ish but gets darker with more layers. Plus if you don't like glossy nail polish: This is the perfect colour to wear with a matte top coat.

Outfit: Military Blazer and Bow Blouse

military blazer mini skirt outfit

Yesterday I went to the monthly meeting of the Luxembourgish blogger community. After coffee and tea some of us decided to shoot outfit pictures together. We also made use of the occasion to take a girl-power-group-picture which you can see at the end of the post.

Black Flat Booties for the Comfy-Casual Girl

best black flat fall boots booties

The title says that this post is for the comfy-casual lady, but let's be honest: This is surely first and foremost for those women, who just like me, can't walk in heels all day long. I mean there are sooo many pretty boots and booties out there, but so many of them come with heels higher than 5cm. The ladies who buy those shoes, don't they feel pain in their feet or don't they have to walk during the day? Anyway if you're looking for flat boots you'll end up with the boring or the androgynous options. If then you have to add a colour choice (like black in my case because black goes with way more of my outfits than brown) you'll be left with a really small choice.

Outfit: 70s Girl

brown mini skirt boots 70s inspired outfit

Most people think that in order to follow the latest trends, you necessarily have to buy new clothes and accessories every season. However everything comes back in fashion, be it after 5 years, or after 20 years. If for example you have a look at the 70s trend, you will notice that there are many style elements that we haven't been missing for 40 years. Just think about the flared pants: They are part of the 70s trend but they were also major style elements of 80s, 90s and even 2000s fashion. So instead of splurging on new clothes every season, we can simply keep our old clothes if they are still in a good quality and they are sure to be useful again sooner or later. Furthermore trends mostly aren't about single items but about moods, styles and looks. To me the 70s trend is about flared jeans, mini skirts, boots, turtlenecks and brown shades. So why do I need the A-line button-up skirt of brand xy, if a brown mini skirt from my closet will do the trick?

Best Beauty Advent Calendars 2015

You might be thinking that I'm completely nuts to already talk about Advent calendars when we've all only just accepted the fact that summer is over. But I'm not the only fanatic as my search results are showing me that some of you started having a look at my past beauty Advent calendar posts already. Also some of the best examples have already been released or will be available quite shorty and we all know that the most popular beauty Advent calendars are sold out in no time. My favourite this year has got to be the L'Occitane Advent calendar as it has been designed by the talented Kanako, illustrator at My Little Paris, and it's even one of the cheapest examples this year. So here I'm sharing all of the good beauty Advent calendars I'll be coming across during the next weeks which means that this post will regularly be updated with prices, release dates and availability, too!

Outfit: Boyfriend Jeans Meet Girlfriend Blazer

outfit boyfriend jeans blazer

Only yesterday I've been thinking about how the more accurate name for my blog would have been "Mood of the Day", or something like that. Not just because I dress accordingly to my mood pretty much all of the time, but also because it happens to me that I hate an outfit only a few weeks after wearing (and loving) it.

Manalena Fall/Winter Collection

These pictures for the Manalena fall/winter collection have already been shot last March in Paris. And just as in the spring/summer collection, everybody can find something that suits their style in Maddalena Oliva's latest collection.

Outfit: #FlarePlay

flared pants 70s off-the-shoulder outfit

Do you already know the online fashion community We Are The Models? It's like Lookbook.nu but smaller and in French. What I like about the community is that they accept and value different body shapes and that they organize nice outfit challenges regularly. One of them consisted in styling these push up flared pants by the brand Balsamik. So already in August I got my pair or flares and had to style them in the best way possible. I obviously went for a 70s inspired look, adding an off-the-shoulder top and beige boots. Now, two months later, I can finally show you the result as the project goes live.

Fashion Days Luxembourg + Win Your Entrance Tickets!

Fashion Days Luxembourg entrance tickets

Due to my "Fashion Made in Luxembourg" project you already know how important local fashion is to me and it has also become a huge part of this blog. Not only am I regularly introducing designers living in Luxembourg, but I also try my best to cover local fashion events and keep you informed about fashion store openings in Luxembourg. Therefor you can surely imagine how happy I was to find out about the first Fashion Days Luxembourg, taking place this October.
