10 Things About Clothes I Wish I Knew As A Teen

As I had quite a bit of fun writing my "10 Things About Makeup I Wish I Knew As A Teen" yesterday, I thought it would be a nice idea to make the same post for clothing and accessories. We all made our bad taste experiences when we were young and I would love for you to share yours as well.

1. Not having the perfect body can be really irritating. There are just as many days on which you hide under absurdly loose clothes as there are days on which you squeeze into a dress that makes you look like you're pregnant. Finding the happy medium may take a while though. When standing in a changing room you should always see yourself as the person you are now and not as the ugly duckling you used to be or the perfect swan you aspire to be.

2. Opaque black tights over everything!

3. If you once felt uncomfortable in a piece of clothing you always will. Neither time nor accessories will change this fact.

4. Nobody wants to see your overflowing boobs or you bottom crack - flattering underwear is crucial!

5. Don't be afraid of colors! When I was about 12 years old I used to wear black, grey and white all the time. I think it was because I tried to hide and didn't want to attract attention. Nowadays I love all of my blue, red and pink clothes and wearing them is huge fun.

6. Nobody finds it pleasant to walk in heels, there are just people who are better at hiding their pain than others.

7. Small bags may be cuter, prettier and more handy but as soon as I have to leave my wallet at home in order to take out a certain bag it's just not worth the appearance anymore.

8. Rather no jewellery than jewellery that leaves my fingers or arm all green.

9. Big boobs are pretty shitty when you like to wear pretty blouses all the time...

10. Everybody has a bad taste day from time to time, even the celebrities. Also breaking all of your / other people's fashion rules isn't a shame, it's the normal evolution of your style.

P.S.: The dress in the picture above definitely didn't match my body shape which is why I didn't buy it... See? I learned from my faults, haha!

  8. Those are some great tips! Love that dress too! I really like your blog though! I'm glad that I found it! It would be nice if you could stop by both of my blogs sometime too (I'm from England) and I post my outfits and personal style on Raindrops of Sapphire and general fashion from celebs and brands on The Fashion Supernova! I hope you have a lovely day and I'm looking forward to your next post :) :)

  13. Another awesome post carmen! I wish I had know that it was okay to look a bit chubby or lumpy in pretty pieces when I was a kid instead of shying away and wearing only baggy things! I missed out on a lot of fun pre-teen and teenage pieces like shorts and colorful pieces! And I wish I didn't think that buying certain things would make me feel better because even after wearing them you aren't a changed person!

  14. I totally agree with you especially in numbers 1. I've always feel really fat with my body because am really is and I'm tall (which makes me looks like a giant). I'm trying to change myself this summer. I started exercising and working out every morning for a change :)

Great post! Have a nice day! :)
