Honestly guys, is there a better occasion to talk about perfume than Valentine's Day? I don't know the statistics but I'm pretty sure that this week the perfume shops all over the world are making big money! And I can totally understand why because for me Valentine's Day is a definitely one of those days where it's totally okay to get back to the traditional gifts like flowers, jewellery and perfume. I mean I love creative gifts but Valentine's Day can be all traditional and simple. If you think the same or if you're simply looking for an excuse to buy a new perfume then this post is just for you. I took all the perfumes I own and decided to make a little review about each of them (and also tell you my personal story behind it). Enjoy!
Paco Rabanne - Lady Million
I don't know if the Paco Rabanne One Million for men was a huge hype in your country as well but here in Luxembourg it was! When I was still in high school I smelled this perfume everywhere! Every other boy was using this perfume and I loved it! One day I even followed a boy in a shop just because I didn't want the good scent to go away (scary, I know!). Anyway I was always quite sad that the female counterpart, Lady Million, didn't even smell half as good so I did never buy it. One Christmas however my boyfriend's mum got me this perfume and I must admit that meanwhile I really like it. It is a really sexy and ladylike smell and yet not too overwhelming. Perfect for a daily use.
Dior - Miss Dior Chérie
I first smelled this perfume when I was in Venice about 5 years ago. I really had a crush on that smell and absolutely wanted to have it and at the end it was my lovely aunt who got it for me at the airport. The bottle is of course a little piece of art and the houndstooth check on the bottom of the bottle makes it even more special. When it comes to the scent I must admit that I don't like it that much anymore. It is way too slaying and strong even though it's just an "Eau de Toilette". Definitely something that reminds of a rich elderly lady. That's why I only wear it on really special occasion when I dress up.
Givenchy - Very Irrésistible
This is the first and almost only perfume I bought for myself. A friend had given me a sample size and I loved the perfume so much that I simply had to get it. I have almost used the perfume up but unfortunately the little residue that's left has gone bad. I don't think it would still be among my favorites nowadays but it's definitely a nice smell to use for everyday life.
Calvin Klein - IN2U
Now this perfume is something really special! It's the first perfume I have used up and rebought. Well actually it was my boyfriend who got me the second bottle. The first bottle was a present from my best friend. He got it for me on my 17th birthday and he totally hit my taste. It was my favorite perfume for many years and I'm still not tired of it. The smell is really fresh, lemonlike and playful.
Kenzo - Flower by Kenzo
Another present from my boyfriend's mum. Here it's really hard to explain how it smells. Definitely sweet but with a special twist.
Cacharel - AnaïsAnaïs
From all the perfumes I know this is the most extraordinary one. The smell is so special and almost surreal! Like a field full of flowers, mixed with the most oriental ingredients. Apparently the perfume has already been created in 1978 and indeed it totally gives you a flashback and makes you think of what the 70s might have been like!
4711 - Acqua Colonia
4711 is probably the most known perfume brand in the whole world. Their "Echt Kölnisch Wasser" is being produced for over 220 years already and even though I hardly know young people who use it nowadays, everybody in the age of my grandparents knows and owns (or has owned) this perfume. That's probably why the brand decided to make a range of fresh and more modern perfumes and this Acqua Colonia with lemon and ginger smell is one of them. It is really fresh and perfect for summer and still has this classy note of the original perfume.
Prada - Candy
Since I first saw the Prada Candy advertisement I knew this smell would be pretty amazing. Whenever I saw it in stores I tried it out and I was always surprised how something so sweet could still smell so pleasant and decent. It is one of those scents I don't smell on myself (which apparently is a good sign). Even though it was love at first sight I didn't get this perfume for myself. It was my brother who got it for my 21st birthday. Definitely one of my best presents that year!
Paco Rabanne - Black XS
Another perfume my brother got me, this one was a present for my 20th birthday. This perfume used to be really popular about 6 years ago so when I smelled it after all that time it was a real flashback to that time. Just like the other Paco Rabanne perfume I own it's a really seductive smell and I'm really sad I almost used it up already.
So that was it for my perfume collection. I hope you could find the one or the other perfume you didn't know before and put it on your Valentine's wish list. Now I'm of course curious and I would love to know what your favorite scents are! Do you regularly buy a new perfume for yourself or have you been using the same one for many years?
