1st German Harper's Bazaar

Harper's Bazaar Germany 1st issue

When I read that Harper's Bazaar would launch a German version of the magazine I knew I had to read the very first issue which is available this month. I never read any international  Harper's Bazaar before but I quickly noticed that it could be compared with Vogue. Right from the beginning the audience is defined and it seems like this magazine shouldn't even be read by people who can't afford their pair of Louboutins. When it comes to the layout I found it way too puristic and it wasn't really a lot of fun to page through the magazine. The articles were partly quite interesting like the one that explains the history of the magazine but those matters I was particularly interested in weren't treated in detail (the fashion and beauty sections were a bit moderate). The magazine costs 6€ in Germany and a bit more in other European countries. All in all I'm probably not going to rebuy it but if you're looking for a new magazine and if you like Vogue you might want to read it nevertheless. For those who are curious: my favourite magazine at the moment is still Glamour but I'm always eager to discover new ones so don't hesitate to share your magazine favourites.

  3. This is great to hear what people really think of a magazine. I agree sometimes it can be frustrating when there are no fashions affordable to real people in there. I guess it could give a little inspiration. Glamour is a great magazine!

  4. I do most of my reading online, so I don't really buy fashion magazines. My problem is that I hate to get rid of things and I know I could never keep them home because I have no space ( I buy - perhaps too much-- books all the time)

  5. How disappointing! I like the American version even though I always browse the site. Also my fav is Glamour, but love to read Marie Claire and Elle. You did right btw to buy the first issue, it will be a worth piece of collection then!:) Kisses!

  7. Yeah I don't like mags anymore because they contain more ads than content. I still like W for their stylist shots and Nylon/Bust for their content, but that's about it.

  8. Hi Carmen, I also feel certain magazines are directed at a specific designer earning type of target market. We don't really have a magazine in this calibre in SA, I also prefer reading Glamour.I appreciate your visit hun! Happy Friday!

  10. Die Glamour lese ich auch total gerne. Gut finde ich auch die Couch oder Jolie! Vogue ist auch nicht so meins, soo viel Werbung drin.

    Liebste Grüße

  11. What I like about magazines are their stories about people, homes and travel. The fashion spreads are sometimes not too inspiring but there are some interesting ones. It really depends on the Editor.

  12. I like your honesty!:) I hate that those magazines are targeted towards people who have A LOT of money. Why should I look at pages and pages of models wearing stuff I could never buy? Especially if there's close to nothing content... But I'm sure the pictures are very very pretty and exquisite. Maybe sometimes that's enough. But not for 6 €!:D
