From time to time the German drugstore dm needs people who try the products they want to sell and some weeks ago I was lucky enough to be among the people who got to try a new mascara by Manhattan. You know that I'm quite picky when it comes to mascaras so I was really excited to try this one. It's the Manhattan Volcano Precise Volume & Definition Mascara in 1010N black:
As you can see the mascara has one of these silicone brushes which I personally like because my favourite mascara (L'Oréal Volume Million Lashes) has one, too. The design of the bottle is not that viewy but in fact that doesn´t matter as long as the quality is good, right?
Now what can we expect from this mascara? The description on the bottle says: "Explosive Volume, intense colour & perfectly separated lashes. Ophthalmologically tested. Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers."
Ophthalmologically tested is of course great because we don't want to ruin our eyes but as I'm not a contact lens wearer I can´t say much about this subject. However I noticed that I didn't have as much mascara-crumbs in my eyes as with other mascaras (like for example Essence).
When it comes to "Explosive Volume, intense colour & perfectly separated lashes." I cannot totally agree. The colour is of course great, you can't go wrong with black. When it comes to volume I never really see what they mean because in my opinion volume is something for your hair, not for your lashes. I tend to rather take care of length and "swing". The length was okay with this mascara but my lashes didn't really turn up but remained rather straight (okay my mascara vocabulary is quite bad but I hope that you get what I mean, haha). And finally the last point also disappointed me because when I hear "perfectly separated lashes" I think of a mascara that manages to make you eyes look as if you had hundreds of lashes, even catching the shortest lash. This mascara however rather made my lashes stick together and I had to reuse the brush quite often in order to separate them at least a little bit.
As you can see the result doesn't look that bad after all and as a conclusion I must say that this is none of the worst mascaras I tried so far. Unfortunately I don't know the prize and I'm not even sure if they are selling it already but if it turns out not to be too expensive I might even rebuy it. Also let's not forget that today was the first time I used it and mascaras tend to change their texture a bit after they came in contact with air.
What do you think? Have you been trying Manhattan mascaras and would you buy this one?
