In my weekly manicure posts it's not always just about nail art but I also try to introduce new shades and manicure accessories. Today I will be able to show you a L'Oréal nail polish I hadn't been trying before and an Essence base coat I really liked. Both aren't mine, a friend was kind enough to let me try them (the same friend who had the amazing orange OPI nail polish in her collection).
First I tried the base coat by Essence. I think it's quite a best seller but I hadn't been in need to buy a new base coat so far. What I really like is that it makes a matte finish and thus a really even base for all colours.
Next I applied this L'Oréal shade which is called Perle de Jade. The colour is of course really pretty and in my eyes it comes quite close to the Barry M Mint Green. What I didn't like about the nail polish is that the texture wasn't as smooth as it could have been and the manicure looked still really messy after the first layer.
As a final step I used the base coat again. On the Essence Facebook page I saw that they used it as a matte top coat as well and so I wanted to try whether it works or not. The result was quite matte but not as good as with a normal matte top coat. If you don't want to spend money on a base coat and on a matte top coat this would be a possible option for you.
All in all I don't know if it is the L'Oréal nail polish or the base coat but this manicure lasted really well on my nails. I did the manicure on Thursday and so far the nail polish hasn't been chipping.
And for those who have been missing the nail art in this post I have the version my friend did with her two L'Oréal polishes.
What I used:
Essence Studio Nails 24/7 nail base
L´Oréal Color Riche 602 Perle de Jade
L'Oréal 916 Confettis
So what are your opinions? Do you like the quality of L'Oréal nail polishes and have you been trying the Essence base coat?
