Ingredients for 1 portion:
40g oats (for example Quaker Oats)
220-250ml milk
honey, sugar or anything else to sweeten
cinnamon
1. Mix the oats and the milk (the recipe I found says 250ml milk but I only take about 220ml which is totally enough).
2. You can either prepare the porridge in the microwave or in a cooking pot. Put it in the microwave for 2 minutes 30 at 800W and let it rest for 2-3 minutes afterwards. You can also put it in a cooking pot and make it cook up to 5 minutes (2 minutes already is enough) and let it rest for 2 more minutes.
3. Add the honey (or sugar) and some cinnamon (unless you don't like cinnamon of course).
Now when it comes to adding other ingredients it's all about your personal taste. How about some bananas and almonds? Or some preserved cherries? My favourite is some fresh blueberries but if I don't have fresh fruits at home I love to take raisins and already add them before cooking the porridge. And for Christmas you could make a perfect baked apple porridge with cinnamon, raisins and a cut apple which you add before cooking, too.
What about you? Have you discovered porridge yet and what are you favourite fruits/ingredients to add? If it's not porridge, what do you consider as the perfect healthy breakfast?
Looks yummy. Have a nice day.

I looove porridge - I am scottish after all
ReplyDeleteI prefer to make it completely unhealthy by adding drinking chocolate OR brown sugar and cream on top
Or if I really had to be healthy then blueberries, honey and chopped toasted almonds.
Thankfifi
OMG, I didn't know that about eggs getting frozen till next Easter!! That's crazy. What scares me is the fact that no one know when will it stop, where will they/us draw the line. But at least this porridge meal looks and probably is very healthy.:) I like raising too! Mmm, raisins and fresh strawberries... YUM.:)
ReplyDeleteI tried oatmeal for the first time in the USA and I loved it! Unfortunately it's not sold in Italy :/
